The stairs

28 12 2008

Some time ago we made a visualization of the stairs, seen from upstairs. We are getting in the stage now to make a final decision if it should be like this. Have a look at the pictures and let us know if you like them or what could be improved.

View the house being built

26 12 2008

Over the days that construction was happening, I put a video camera in my car, which I just left running. I’ve now created a small movie that shows the building process in high speed. Unluckily the battery in the camara is not so good, so I only managed to capture some parts of the building. But it does give a good view of what was happening.

Flying Family

22 12 2008

In October Magda’s family flew into the skies over Slovakia to view the villages and cities in the area that they live in. It has been some time on my camera now, but I finally managed to make a small movie of it. So if you’re interested in viewing Slovakia from above on a sunny day here it is.

Day 6 – View of Gallery

15 12 2008

Today work continued on completing the roof. Below are a few pictures to see the progress.

To have a better view of the inside, here is a Photosynth view of the gallery on the first floor. This allows you to virtually view the gallery from all sides. The pictures are made on day 4 and 5, so on some you will already see a roof, on some still a clear sky. You will need to install Photosynth to be able to view it.

Day Three of House Construction

12 12 2008

Day three was a lot more productive, even though it was still raining at times. The top floor is now placed and also the ceiling of the top floor is ready. I haven’t been on the top floor yet, they were working way too hard for me to walk in the way. Will try to go there tomorrow to make some pictures of the bedrooms and the bathroom.

This weekend the team will work as well. Tomorrow they will put the roof on the house, so we can finally see the whole house.  So come back tomorrow for the next update.

Day Two of House Construction

11 12 2008

Today was a slow day. In the morning it was raining, so work didn’t start until around 12:30. We did have a look in the morning and as you can see from the first few pictures, the house was sort of covered for protection.

In the afternoon the work then continued with the ceiling of the ground floor. This went quite fast, but as the work started so late, that was the only thing done today. Tomorrow’s weather forecast is better, so than we should see the top floor construction.

Day One of House Construction

10 12 2008

Below are the pictures of the first day of construction of our new house. Basically the ground floor is finished now, tomorrow the first floor and hopefully the roof will be completed.

It was a cold day, but the weather was nice, so there were no major problems with the building. Only when they started on building the extension at the back on the first floor, there were some problems fixing it all correctly in place. But other than that, it was really fast to put up all the walls. And as I wrote before, connecting them together is really like building an IKEA cupboard. Or maybe better, this is LEGO for adults.

House being build in factory

4 12 2008

Today we went to see how our house is being build in the factory of Bien Zenker in Austria. Below you can see some pictures of the factory in Veitsch.

They started yesterday with creating the Lego blocks and will continue till tomorrow. Then all will be transported in 5 trucks to Slovakia. It will all be assembled on the already finished foundation on Wednesday and Thursday.

As we got a tour of the factory, it was clear that a lot of houses are build at the same time. On average one completed house leaves the factory every day. As you can see in the pictures, the parts come complete with windows, doors, isolation, pipes for cabling etc. The whole system to put it together is like what you also see in IKEA furniture, pegs and holes to connect two parts together.

We’re really anxious to see what happens next week, when all is being put together. For now, have a look at the pictures below.
